Our story

It all started in 2011 when, as a beginner windsurfer, Raigo started to look for a portable wind meter to help him make better choices while rigging his gear. When looking at the stuff available on the market it struck him that none of the devices were connected. What if that would be the case? The obvious answer seemed to be that a whole new world of possibilities would open up.

Johan and Maichel joined in and we were all inspired to make the concept of an accurate and connected wind meter a reality. Not surprisingly, we chose to use smartphones as our platform, allowing for hyperlocal crowdsourced wind information to be easily shared between wind addicts in real-time for the first time.

2012-2016 was a busy year for us — prototyping, testing, testing, being part of a hardware accelerator and refining everything for production. Now, with your support, we are ready to ship the Shaka Wind Meter – the first accurate wind meter for your iPhone!
